Child Peer Support Specialist

As a Child Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in helping young clients build essential life skills, develop treatment goals, and enhance their overall well-being. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community by supporting children in their recovery journey and fostering positive change in their lives. Join a passionate team committed to mental health advocacy and collaborative care. Responsibilities Deliver individual peer support services to children in community settings. Assist clients in developing personalized treatment goals within the first 30 days of service. Support clients in restoring, rehabilitating, and developing social and interpersonal skills. Identify and strengthen clients' support networks, community awareness, and coping strategies. Help clients improve self-management of psychiatric or emotional symptoms. Participate in collaborative meetings with Behavioral Health Services staff and other community partners as needed. Regularly communicate updates on clients’ status, including changes in mood, functioning, or health and safety concerns. Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation for every client interaction. Attend required office trainings and participate in regular clinical supervision sessions. Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Must self-identify as a current or former consumer of mental health services, or as a first-degree family member of someone who has received such services. Demonstrated minimum of 6 months in self-directed recovery within the last year (if applicable). Ability to use computer systems for documentation and billing.
