Job Summary The Gaming Technician is responsible for the overall and efficient operation of the gaming terminals and the necessary equipment in accordance with all company policies and procedures. The role engages with guests and team members professionally, providing friendly, efficient service and assistance. 50‑75% travel required. Technology includes HHR race wagering terminals, simulcast wagering terminals, player loyalty systems, networking equipment, surveillance systems, on‑property marketing displays and associated printers. Scope The Gaming Technician must problem‑solve, demonstrate good judgment, communicate effectively, and seek supervisory or management assistance when needed. Job Responsibilities Perform minor and major repairs on gaming terminals, scheduled and unscheduled. Keep complete records of repairs of department equipment in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Share and communicate current and relative information regarding terminal status with other gaming technicians and lead gaming technicians. Perform preventive maintenance to ensure maximum terminal performance. Order replacement parts that are not readily available. Manage and implement all hardware and software updates. Involve in all aspects of terminal installations, conversions, and relocations, including player tracking, terminal lock installation, and networking. Perform routine and advanced gaming terminal maintenance, including working the gaming floor and responding to floor calls. Maintain thorough familiarity with all test and support equipment. Stay aware of upcoming events and promotions. Have thorough knowledge of the player tracking system. Attend to bill or voucher jams or other failures of the terminals. Maintain a thorough knowledge of terminal technical issues and innovations. Ensure that all work meets manufacturer’s minimum requirements, including disassembly and assembly of equipment in strict compliance with diagrams and manuals. Examine all gaming‑related equipment for evidence of tampering and mechanical malfunctions. Comply with all key control policies and procedures. Accurately record problems or situations at terminals, including repairs, maintenance, and spare stock levels. Conduct periodic stock checks of spare parts and components for terminals and auxiliary equipment. Resolve floor disputes and complaints professionally, referring unresolved disputes to a supervisor or manager. Work safely, following company safety policies and procedures, and report unsafe conditions. Maintain regular attendance at scheduled shift and staff meetings. Maintain professionalism and a friendly, approachable demeanor throughout shift. Hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel within the state up to 50–75% of the time. Assist with training/mentoring of new team members as requested. Maintain appearance standards in accordance with uniform and appearance guidelines. Inform the manager on duty of any irregularities and unusual situations when they occur. Possess honesty and integrity in all interactions. Work independently with little supervision or as part of a team. Remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for industry work. Answer all inquiries and provide assistance and information professionally and accurately. Access and interpret information on computer screens. Bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, twist, balance, and perform work across the property, tolerating temperature changes. Work in a smoking‑permitted, loud environment with guest chatter, overhead music, and live entertainment. Lift and carry up to 75 pounds without assistance; lift up to 300 pounds using material‑handling equipment. Distinguish letters or symbols and exhibit eye–hand coordination. Key Success Indicators Maintains high standards of workmanship while carrying out the job responsibilities of the position. Education and Experience Minimum of 2 years mechanical, electronics, or installation and maintenance of networking/server‑based hardware, or equivalent, with HHR or Class2 or 3 gaming experience preferred. High school diploma or GED preferred. Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Internal candidates must have been in their current position for at least six months and have had no active disciplinary action during the last six months. Ability to work a variety of shifts, including day, swing, late‑night, weekend, and holiday shifts as scheduled. Must obtain required work cards and non‑gaming registration as required by local jurisdiction. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must pass all required background checks. Physical & Mental Demands and Working Conditions Move in and around the entire facility throughout the workday. Stand or walk for extended periods of time. Repeat the same movements. Use close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, and focus vision. Handle small parts and manipulate objects. Read and interpret schematics, electric circuitry, and blueprints (preferred). Use hand tools, power tools, testing, and calibration instruments. Engage and interact with guests appropriately and work well under pressure of a fast‑paced environment.
