Job Description

The Occupational Therapist functions to serve youth, families, staff, and stakeholders to promote the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of children and youth to promote their participation in meaningful life roles. The Occupational Therapist achieves this through direct services, staff and stakeholder consultation, and ongoing program development.

 

Responsibilities Include:

• Assess youth and family’s needs and strengths through formal and informal evaluation methods using evidence-based measures and a client-centered approach
• Collaborate on the development of individualized, trauma-informed, multidisciplinary treatment plans, interventions, and discharge planning
• Provide weekly individual and group OT treatment that address treatment plan goals, are evidence-based, creative, and motivating
• Provide OT services in a variety of contexts, including office spaces, within the community, and through telehealth/virtual contexts
• Document and monitor youth progress using an electronic health records system on a daily basis
• Maintain a weekly schedule prioritizing youth and family needs
• Attend and participate in supervision, trainings, staff meetings, team meetings, program reviews, and leadership meetings
• Consult with youth, families, and staff regarding (but not limited to):
• • Interpreting completed assessments
  • Collaborating and advocating for youth’s needs with school systems and placement settings
  • Providing recommendations for environmental adaptations/modifications to promote youth’s optimal functioning within residential home, school, and/or placement setting
  • Agency and program specific trainings and staff education on OT interventions and sensory-based strategies
• Provide fieldwork supervision to Level I and Level II OT students
• Program Development to further the development of OT service delivery model within the agency
• Occasionally function as the Community-Based Supervisor on-call
• Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement Process
• Maintain licensure requirements
• Gain an understanding and commitment to LUK’s Mission, Vision, and Values and provide congruent services

 

Knowledge and Experience Required:

• Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
• Current OT license recognized by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
• At least 2 years of experience as an OT in a psychosocial/mental health setting preferred
• Bilingual/bicultural candidates encouraged to apply
