Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic school environment near Chester, SC! This position runs through June 1, 2027, offering stability and the chance to make a lasting difference in students’ lives.
You’ll support K-2 learners in a multi-categorical classroom or engage with high school students in a resource setting, depending on your best fit. Both settings are structured to ensure manageable group sizes and strong paraprofessional support. The younger classroom includes 6–7 students, one teacher, and two paraprofessionals with hours from 7:15 AM to 2:45 PM. The high school resource role spans from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, covering push-in services and academic seminars.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching credentials in Special Education
- Experience working with K-12 students, particularly K-2 or high school
- Understanding of multi-categorical special needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet individual learning plans
- Comfortable working with paraprofessionals and classroom aides
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized lesson plans in accordance with each student’s IEP
- Foster a supportive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, general education teachers, and families
- Track and report on student progress and adapt strategies as needed
- Create engaging lessons for academic seminars and push-in classes (high school resource role)
- Maintain compliance with school procedures and special education guidelines
