Job Overview Functional Title: Training Specialist Job Title: Training and Development Spec3 Agency: Health & Human Services Comm Department: General Admin Posting Number: 18286 Closing Date: 09/23/2026 Occupational Category: Healthcare Support Salary Range: $4,400.00 - $6,335.66 Pay Frequency: Monthly Salary Group: TEXAS-B-19 Shift: Day Responsibilities Provides complex (journey-level) educational activities and services to state hospital employees, serving as subject matter expert on service provision to clients. Develops, plans, organizes, conducts, and evaluates educational and training programs including new pre-service training, annual refresher training, and on-the-job training. Tracks and ensures accuracy of hospital curriculum and training records using PeopleSoft. Essential Job Functions Attend work on a regular basis, requiring flexibility with shift patterns including overtime or alternate shifts. Conduct training sessions and maintain a positive learning environment, teaching core mandatory classes such as CPR, TIPS, annual refresher, and other local trainings. Ensure training rosters for the hospital are entered into PeopleSoft, track training compliance, and maintain monthly mandatory/delinquent lists. Serve as the FCTD curriculum coordinator and SME, updating curriculum to reflect current standards from the Texas Administrative Code, TJC, and CMS. Monitor and document participants’ compliance with policies and report any issues to supervisors. Maintain necessary certifications (e.g., CPR, TIPS, Van Driver Training) and teaching credentials. Organize training records and files to keep the department survey ready. Utilize PeopleSoft TIMS for accurate documentation of staff training. Perform other duties as assigned, including disaster response roles and backup support for department positions. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ability to enter and track large amounts of data and utilize databases. Ability to work in a team environment and interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Preferred ability to work with individuals with mental illnesses. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree required; two years in professional teaching may substitute for the degree. Teaching in adult education preferred. Two years of experience working in the mental health field preferred. Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications Position must obtain certification in CPR, TIPS, and PiCert within six (6) months of hire date. Additional Information Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including CANRS, Nurse Aid, Medication Aide, Employee Misconduct, and LEIE. Males 18-25 must be registered with the Selective Service. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age; Waco and Terrell Center for Youth applicants must be 21 years of age.
