The successful candidate will be responsible for the full spectrum of accounting and financial reporting, including corporate, property-level, and family office. This executive will also serve as the primary internal liaison with the company's external accounting firm on all tax matters. The role demands a technically strong, team-oriented leader with a strategic vision for the finance function, and who is motivated by the prospect of a future CFO position. Key responsibilities include directing the preparation of financial statements, ensuring GAAP compliance, producing management reporting packages, and overseeing the consolidation of multi-entity financial data. The SVP will also be involved in property accounting, family office and owner reporting, tax compliance, and will lead a high-performing accounting team. Candidates for the SVP of Accounting position at the company should have a minimum of 12-15 years' of progressive accounting experience, with a preference for those holding an active CPA and a BS in accounting or finance. The ideal candidate will have a background in private commercial real estate accounting, with a focus on retail or mixed-use assets, and experience in real estate acquisitions and dispositions. Deep knowledge of GAAP financial reporting, partnership/LLC accounting, and real estate-specific accounting matters is essential. Proficiency in MRI and/or Yardi is preferred. The role requires exceptional communication skills, the ability to manage a large team, and a proven track record of process improvements and technology enhancements in the accounting function. The SVP will also be involved in strategic finance and succession planning, working closely with the senior leadership team on financial modeling, capital structure decisions, and acquisition underwriting.
