Position Overview 

The Director of QAQC and Commissioning leads quality assurance, quality control, and electrical commissioning across DC Solar Solutions (DCSS) utility-scale solar projects. This role manages Site QC Managers, directly handles quality needs on smaller projects without a dedicated Site QC Manager, and serves as DCSS’s senior point of contact for quality concerns and escalations. The Director owns the process for resolving nonconforming work and oversees electrical commissioning from planning and construction readiness through energization, startup, and turnover within DCSS’s contracted scope. 

Working with Operations, Project Managers, Superintendents, Safety, engineering, and client representatives, the Director ensures installed work meets approved requirements and that each project has the inspections, test results, approvals, and records needed to advance to power and acceptance. 

Site QC Leadership and Project Coverage 

• Lead, coach, and evaluate Site QC Managers and field quality personnel. Establish clear responsibilities, inspection priorities, reporting expectations, and escalation procedures. 
• Plan quality staffing and deployment with Operations and project leadership. Adjust coverage as work fronts expand, project risks change, or commissioning approaches. 
• For smaller sites without a dedicated Site QC Manager, personally manage QC planning, client quality communication, issue resolution, inspections, and records through site visits and qualified field support. 
• Verify required inspections occur while work is accessible and before it is concealed or advanced beyond a hold point. Arrange qualified onsite coverage whenever the activity requires it. 
• Conduct site audits, mentor field leaders, and address performance gaps. Train teams on acceptance criteria, inspection methods, documentation, and recurring quality issues. 

Quality Program and Field Verification 

• Develop and maintain DCSS’s quality management system, project Quality Control Plans, inspection and test plans, procedures, checklists, and turnover standards. 
• Align field requirements with the contract, current approved drawings, RFIs, specifications, manufacturer instructions, and applicable codes. Resolve conflicting requirements before affected work proceeds. 
• Oversee mechanical and electrical quality verification, including foundations, tracker and racking assemblies, modules, torque and fastening, cable systems, grounding, equipment installation, and terminations within project scope. 
• Coordinate first article and Golden Row inspections, witness points, hold points, and client releases. Confirm tools and test equipment are suitable and within required calibration. 
• Use Procore and project-approved systems to maintain accurate, location-specific records with minimal duplicate field entry. Audit inspection coverage, photographs, verification markings, and approval records for completeness and traceability.
