Job Details Location: Dallas 720 - Carrollton, TX 75006 Position Type: Full Time American Furniture Rental (AFR) is looking for a Full-time experienced Truck Driver & Furniture Mover for our location in Carrollton, TX. Requirements: Clean background and driving records; able to pass a pre‑employment drug test (12 panels). A DOT medical card is required per federal regulations or the ability to obtain one before hiring (the company can provide a form for the physical exam at no charge after an offer is accepted). Must meet FMCSA qualifications and English language proficiency under 49 CFR 391.11. A complete resume is required. General Description The Driver/Installer will be responsible for completing assigned routes for deliveries and pickups of merchandise, installing items according to the floor plan, and assisting with shipping and receiving in support of the warehouse department. This position applies to residential, commercial, special events and trade show deliveries. Responsibilities Operate company vehicles in a professional and courteous manner while observing all safety rules according to DOT traffic laws and regulations. Perform daily maintenance checks (DOT pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections) and report any malfunctions to management. Handle delivery, installation and pickup of merchandise from warehouses, vendors and customers in a timely manner with attention to detail. Fill delivery orders by obtaining required merchandise and completing appropriate paperwork. Protect all products and items using furniture pads, coverups and other protection materials supplied by AFR. Read and complete all paperwork associated with deliveries in accordance with customer invoices and delivery/pickup documentation. Maintain the toolkit provided by AFR in good condition and notify management if replacement is needed. Confirm with the client that all items delivered are in good condition and obtain the client’s signature on the delivery document. Inspect the facility when delivering or picking up items, note any damage, take pictures and notify the manager prior to installation or pickup. Upon pickup, confirm items are in good condition; notify the manager of any damage or missing items and, if damaged, take a picture and send it to the manager before loading onto the truck. Ensure customer messages and communications are relayed to appropriate management. Assist in maintaining a neat and clean workplace. Assist with stocking the shipping and receiving department by lifting, carrying cartons and placing them on appropriate shelves. Receive floor plans and execute the delivery with other helpers. Wear the uniform provided by AFR at all times during work hours. Perform other related duties as assigned by management. Qualifications Organization and time‑management skills. Verbal and written communication skills. Customer service and problem‑solving orientation. Availability to work rotating shifts, overtime, holidays and weekends. Ability to use basic tools such as screwdrivers, cordless drills, hammers or other assembly tools. Basic math, organization and reading skills. High School diploma or equivalent. English and Spanish language proficiency preferred. At least six months of experience in a similar industry, warehousing and inventory knowledge from a delivery company or similar; must be able to operate a 26’ box truck. Valid driver’s license meeting insurance underwriting requirements (no points of violation in the past 12 months). Ability to pass a DOT physical test, including pre‑employment drug testing. Background check required. Physical and Mental Qualifications This job requires lifting 75 pounds, climbing stairs, bending, crouching, and being physically active for extended periods of time.
