Job Description
Job Title: RN Supervisor

Description:
The RN Supervisor is responsible for running the facility during evenings, nights, and weekends.


This role includes overseeing floor nurses, which may consist of both RNs and LPNs.


The RN Supervisor is not assigned to resident care or tasks, rather serves as a resource for other staff throughout the shift.


Responsibilities include monitoring changes in resident conditions and addressing resident issues.


The RN Supervisor will schedule outside services such as lab and portable x-ray while contacting MD or NP for resident needs.


Only RNs are to perform specific tasks, such as central line care, chest tube management, IV starts, admission orders, and fall assessments.


The facility accepts residents in LTC, skilled rehab, and dementia care, aged 18 and older, including hospice care with dedicated hospice rooms.


There are a total of 300 beds divided across 6 units, including a secured dementia unit.


Staffing ratios may vary per unit, and weekends will have one Nurse Manager overseeing all units.


Nurses will consist of both RNs and LPNs, with a mix of nurses on each unit during evenings and nights.


Physician availability is provided after hours through a house MD and NP.


The interdisciplinary team includes physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, case management, social work, and dietary services.


Respiratory therapy is not on-site 24/7, but the facility can provide oxygen therapy equipment.


Pharmacy services are available on-site during normal business hours with access to emergency medication resources.


Requirements include participation in care plan meetings for short-term residents, with proper staff ratios maintained.


Weekend and holiday work is required according to the schedule.


Self-scheduling and block scheduling are offered in accordance with staffing needs.


Any professional, clean scrubs are permitted with a focus on maintaining a professional appearance.


Unit-specific orientation lasts for three days.
