Cybersecurity Analyst

Salary: $50,000 - 65,000 per year Requirements: 1–3 years of experience in cybersecurity, a SOC or NOC, or IT support with security responsibilities Solid knowledge of Windows, Active Directory, and networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewall rules, and NAT Practical experience investigating security alerts and remediating incidents CompTIA Security+ or CySA+ certification, or ability to earn one within six months Strong written communication skills for incident notes read by customers and leadership Sound judgment about when to act and when to escalate Valid drivers license Preferred: experience with a managed services provider and multiple customer environments Preferred: familiarity with endpoint detection and response, SIEM or log analysis, and cloud email and identity security Preferred: firewall administration experience Preferred: scripting or automation skills, such as PowerShell or Python Preferred: degree in cybersecurity, IT, or a related field, or progress toward CISSP, CCNA, or a similar certification Responsibilities: Lead security incident response from detection through containment, remediation, and close-out Investigate suspicious sign-ins, malware detections, phishing campaigns, and firewall events to determine root causes Manage security configurations for customer firewalls, endpoints, and cloud identity platforms Develop and refine detection rules to reduce alert noise and identify genuine threats Create and maintain runbooks for consistent handling of common incidents Audit customer environments to verify security tools are deployed, licensed, and reporting Review and mentor junior analysts investigations and documentation Explain incidents and remediation plans clearly to technical and non-technical customers Support security awareness and phishing simulation programs Technologies: Active Directory Cloud Firewall Support NAT PowerShell Python Security TCP/IP Windows VPN More: We are Midwest Data Center, a managed IT and cybersecurity provider serving businesses nationwide from offices in Missouri and Iowa.
