You will solve thehardest powerproblems our programs face, mentor the engineers who build alongside you, and shape how we vertically integrate EPS to deliver real on-orbit advantage.RESPONSIBILITIESOwn the technical direction and architecture for spacecraft electrical power systems, including solar arrays, batteries, power distribution units, and protection circuitry across multiple programsLead trade studies and architecture definition that balance system performance, technical risk, cost, schedule, andSWaPconstraintsDrive the design, analysis, and verification of power generation, energy storage, and power distribution hardware from concept through on-orbit operationDevelop and own power system budgets, peak power tracking strategies, and fault management approaches for diverse mission profilesConduct and reviewderatinganalysis, worst-case circuit analysis, and FMEA for critical power hardwareLead radiation and reliability analyses to characterize system risk and define mitigation strategies for the space environmentDefine validation approach and lead qualification campaigns, including EMI/EMC, thermal vacuum, and vibration testing of power hardwareDirect system-level integration of EPS hardware and its interfaces with avionics, software, and harness subsystemsSet and elevate EPS design standards, processes, and best practices across the engineering organizationLead preliminary and critical design reviews and represent power systems to internal stakeholders and customersProvide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers across the EPS and broader avionics teamsSupport hardware through production, integration, and launchQUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineeringor related fieldMinimum 12 years of professional experience in electrical power systems design, with significant depth in spacecraft or high-reliability EPS developmentDeep technicalexpertisein solar arrays, battery technologies (Li-ion, LiFePO4), charge control, DC/DC converters, peak power tracking, and power distributionDemonstrated experience with spacecraft power modeling, analysis, and fault managementProventrack recordowning power system architecture and driving complex hardware from concept to deliveryStrong command of derating, worst-case circuit analysis, and reliability methodsUnderstanding of radiation effects on power systems and mitigation techniquesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence across disciplinesPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEMaster's degree in Electrical Engineeringor related fieldExperience designing, analyzing, and testing for EMI/EMC effectsFamiliarity with lab test equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, electronic loads, and solar array simulatorsExperience integrating and debugging system-level interactions in a HIL/SIL environmentKnowledge of power supply stability analysis and compensation techniquesExperience with spacecraft charging analysis and mitigationExperience deploying systems in GEO or other demanding orbital regimesExperience developing electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) for power system testingExperience working in a fast-paced, startup environment or a similarly dynamic settingCOMPENSATIONBase Salary: $190,000 - $275,000Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental LeaveYour actual level and base salary will bedetermined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, location, and experience.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSWork Location—Successful candidates will be located near Denver or Long Beach.Work environment—the work environment; temperature, noise level, inside or outside, or other factors that will affect the person's working conditions while performing the job.Physical demands—the physical demands of the job, including bending, sitting, lifting and driving.This position will be open until it is successfully filled.
