Job Title: Electrical and Control (E&C) Technician
Department: Maintenance/Operations
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor/Manager
Job Summary

The Electrical and Control (E&C) Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and control systems in an industrial or manufacturing environment. This role ensures that all electrical equipment, instrumentation, and control systems operate efficiently and safely to support operational objectives. The E&C Technician collaborates with maintenance and operations teams to minimize downtime and maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation and Maintenance : Install, calibrate, and maintain electrical and control systems, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA systems, DCS (Distributed Control Systems), and instrumentation.
• Troubleshooting and Repair : Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, and control system issues, including motors, drives, sensors, and wiring, to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
• Preventive Maintenance : Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical and control equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• System Upgrades : Assist in the design, implementation, and testing of system upgrades or modifications to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Safety Compliance : Adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, OSHA regulations, and company safety policies, to maintain a safe working environment.
• Documentation : Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and system configurations using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) or similar tools.
• Collaboration : Work closely with operations, engineering, and other maintenance teams to support production schedules and resolve technical issues.
• Training and Support : Provide technical guidance and training to junior technicians or operators on control systems and electrical equipment.

Qualifications

• Education : High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or technical certification in electrical engineering, industrial automation, or related field preferred.
• Experience : Minimum of 1-3 years of experience as an electrician or control technician in an industrial, manufacturing, or similar environment.
• Certifications : Valid electrician's license, journeyman certification, or equivalent preferred; certifications in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) or instrumentation are a plus.
• Skills :
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including high- and low-voltage systems, wiring, and circuit design.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and instrumentation systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces or at heights.
• Comfortable working in various environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, heat, and cold.
• Ability to stand, walk, or climb for extended periods.

Work Environment

• Full-time position, typically 40 hours per week, with potential for overtime or on-call shifts.
• Work may be performed in indoor and outdoor industrial settings, including manufacturing plants, refineries, or similar facilities.
• Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
