Food Service Worker

Assume responsibilities in the food preparation and cashier duties as directed by the Child Nutrition Manager and/or designee. Follow and perform routine food preparation and service to ensure a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency of the cafeteria operations. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as, district policies, procedures, and regulations. Essential functions include assisting in food preparation and cashier as assigned, operating kitchen equipment, cleaning and sanitizing work areas and equipment, serving meals on service line, following cleaning and maintenance schedules, performing routine cleaning, and demonstrating punctuality, reliability, integrity, cooperation and efficient use of time. Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions is required. Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job.

Other responsibilities include participating in professional development activities as required by the district, following established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, supporting district/department goals, maintaining a professional code of ethics, and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include possessing a current Food Handler's Card or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment with the district, the ability to learn and follow prescribed preparation methods of handling food and supplies, the ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions in English, and a valid Texas/New Mexico driver's license/ID card subject to the district's drug and alcohol screening policy and regulation and must be insurable by the district's auto liability insurance carrier.

Mental demands include continual standing, walking, pushing and pulling; must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 50 pounds frequently; moderate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures; work under all weather conditions; be adaptable to work a shift schedule and/or hours other than regularly assigned; frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing (ladder) and lifting.
