Executive Director of Museum Development Colby College (Waterville, Maine) and the Colby College Museum of Art seek an experienced, strategic, and inspirational Executive Director of Museum Development. The Executive Director will lead the planning and strategic execution of fundraising efforts that support current programming, near‑term plans for a transformational capital project and significantly expanded programming. Colby’s Dare Northward campaign is one of the single largest campaigns at a liberal arts college in history, having surpassed $1B in donations. The museum is a key part of the college’s arts ecosystem, and the Senior Advancement professional will play a pivotal role in supporting this mission. Responsibilities Lead all aspects of fundraising and donor engagement for the museum. Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising and major donor strategies. Oversee campaign oversight and strategic planning for capital projects. Build and sustain relationships with existing and prospective donors, sponsors, and partners. Collaborate with the museum leadership, board, and college administration to align fundraising initiatives with institutional goals. Provide regular reporting and analysis to the board and college leadership on fundraising performance. Qualifications Minimum of 10 years envisioning, shaping, and implementing a successful philanthropic program. Proven track record of cultivating major and principal gifts and leading high‑level fundraising initiatives. Experience in the art and cultural sectors, with familiarity with art communities and museum operations preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to lead, manage, and assess opportunities to leverage visibility. Demonstrated commitment to institutional values of honesty, integrity, and personal responsibility. Leadership experience leading a comprehensive advancement program of similar scope and complexity.
