Academic Success Coordinator

Chief Objective of Position The Academic Success Coordinator will support the University’s student success initiatives by providing a variety of services and programs focused on learning and academic skills to foster undergraduate academic success and to improve retention, completion, and post‑graduation outcomes. Work Tasks Assists with creation, implementation and maintenance of a variety of academic success programs and support services for all undergraduate students. Assists with the instructional component of college transition courses, COLL 141: Student Success Seminar, COLL 140: The Transitional Learner, and COLL 150: The Intentional Learner, as needed within the parameters determined by senior leadership. Researches, develops, assesses and implements best practices in academic success support services and programs for undergraduate college students. Participates in webinars, workshops, conferences and other professional development opportunities to support the University’s academic support efforts. Maintains a caseload of undergraduate students, conducting individual meetings and creating personal action plans supporting students’ academic success at the University. Monitors the progress of students who are identified as at‑risk for not persisting or in academic jeopardy and develops and implements an intervention plan based on each student’s needs. Maintains “drop in” hours for students in need of immediate assistance with an academic success related issue. Develops, implements and conducts various workshops, programs and intervention strategies to better support undergraduate academic success toward degree completion. Participates in the Division’s “recruit back” program to identify and communicate with students who have stopped out and encourage re‑enrollment. Assists with a variety of functions and activities associated with orientation programs for new college freshmen and new college transfer students focused on supporting undergraduate students as they transition to the university environment. Maintains detailed records of meetings with students, attendance at workshops and events, and other outreach activities and programs. Assists the Director with the administration of assessments of students as needed. Assists the Director with marketing for the Center for Academic Success, the Tutoring Center and the Division’s peer mentoring program. Assists the Director and colleagues with daily postings to the Center’s social media sites in compliance with university guidelines and policies. Serves as one of the Center’s representatives at admission related events such as open houses, onboarding events, and university‑wide celebrations. Assists in planning and supporting events and programs such as Signing Day and LAUNCH and other academic success related initiatives. Provides support and programming for the Community Captains Program and Captains’ Connection Program on an as needed basis. Provides exceptional customer service and maintains professional relations within the office/department and with all constituencies. Commits to reducing work‑related absences by reviewing and communicating safety issues. Immediately reports work‑related incidents and unsafe conditions to the supervisor and participates in accident investigation requests. Performs other duties as assigned. Ability to create and maintain relationships that foster a trusting environment. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Ability to quickly master a variety of computer applications. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently. Availability for evening and weekend programs and events. Required Education Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree with work experience that equates to an advanced degree. A Master’s degree in a related field is required to teach. Additional Consideration – Education Master’s degree or higher in Higher Education, Education, College Student Development, Psychology, or a related field; graduate degree should include 18 or more credits in college student development, higher education, education, counseling, psychology, developmental psychology, educational psychology, or a related discipline. Experience Required Experience working with students in a mentoring, coaching, or advising capacity. Additional Consideration – Experience Experience providing academic success coaching to undergraduate college students. Experience designing, developing and implementing events, programs and activities to support undergraduate college student success. Experience teaching academic success strategies and skills to undergraduate college students. Experience using social media platforms to promote student support services. Experience developing and facilitating workshops, information sessions and other intervention type programs. Experience working with college student personnel. Salary Salary $50,887 to $60,000 commensurate with education and experience. Telework Eligibility This position is not eligible for telework.
