Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy worked by acting as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. Responsibilities Live our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled, overseeing the pharmacy and serving as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts. Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and directing the pharmacy team accordingly. Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the sole or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty. Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, collaborating with patients’ healthcare teams, and proactively resolving insurance or medication issues. Proactively offer and deliver immunizations to keep patients healthy; engage and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize. Support effective management of pharmacy inventory, guiding the pharmacy team to follow inventory best practices with a focus on cold‑chain products. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, attending required trainings and continuing education, and seek opportunities to expand knowledge for better patient support. Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, hormonal contraception) where permissible; empower the pharmacy team to provide holistic care at every step. Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS Health policies and procedures to promote patient safety and protect privacy. Essential Functions Travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require. Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Complete required training within designated timeframes. Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time and pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs. Confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety. Provide friendly customer service, actively looking for ways to help people. Recognize and appropriately respond to patient reactions. Use clear verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues, practicing active listening. Apply mathematical reasoning to determine prescription quantities and supply calculations. Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action among multiple options. Move and lift items up to 20lb (occasionally) and frequently up to 10lb, remaining mobile and upright for extended periods. Perform fine motor tasks requiring precision and quick adjustments of equipment. Receive and convey detailed oral and written instructions accurately. Perform additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting. Anticipated Weekly Hours 30 hours per week, full time. Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is: $65.00 – $81.00 per hour. The actual base salary offer will depend on experience, education, geography, and other factors.
