Commissioning Manager

We're seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead the installation and commissioning strategy for large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This leadership role is responsible for developing commissioning standards, managing field execution teams, driving safety and quality initiatives, and ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within budget. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in power generation, energy infrastructure, and commissioning management, along with a proven track record of leading technical teams and complex industrial projects. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate teams of Field Service Engineers, Technicians, and subcontractors performing installation and commissioning activities across energy storage projects. Develop and execute comprehensive commissioning plans for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects throughout the Americas region. Establish, maintain, and continuously improve commissioning standards, procedures, work instructions, training programs, quality requirements, and safety protocols. Manage subcontractor selection, qualification, onboarding, and performance in collaboration with sourcing and project management teams. Support the development of RFQs, contractor evaluations, and commissioning service agreements. Partner with project stakeholders to ensure commissioning requirements are delivered on time and within budget. Provide technical leadership and guidance to field teams, engineers, technicians, and subcontractors during project execution. Collaborate with engineering, quality, and safety teams to identify field issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. Promote and maintain a strong "Safety First" culture across all installation and commissioning activities. Drive continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging operational feedback and project lessons learned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline. Extensive relevant industrial experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 10+ years of engineering experience within power generation, energy storage, renewable energy, utilities, or industrial infrastructure environments. Proven experience leading installation and commissioning activities for large-scale industrial or energy projects. Demonstrated experience managing and developing technical teams, field personnel, and subcontractors. Strong knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), battery technologies, or related power systems. Experience with electrical controls, commissioning methodologies, project execution, and field operations. Preferred Skills Strong leadership and team management capabilities. Expertise in commissioning processes, electrical systems, and energy infrastructure projects. Excellent stakeholder management and project coordination skills.
