Big Minds, Tiny Hands is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and family-centered  Occupational Therapist (OT)to provide  home-based Early Intervention services to children from birth to age 3 who have developmental delays or disabilities.

This is a flexible  fee-for-service opportunity that allows you to make a meaningful impact while working directly with young children and their families in their natural environments. You’ll provide individualized, play-based occupational therapy services designed to support each child’s functional development and goals outlined in their  Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) .

What You’ll Do

Direct Occupational Therapy Services

• Provide occupational therapy services in children’s homes and/or community-based settings.
• Implement individualized intervention plans based on IFSP goals.
• Address developmental needs including:
• • Fine motor skills
  • Sensory processing
  • Self-help and daily living skills
  • Play and functional participation
  • Early developmental skills
• Use play-based, routine-based, and evidence-based intervention strategies.
• Provide caregiver coaching and education to promote skill development and carryover between visits.

Evaluation & Documentation

• Conduct evaluations and re-evaluations as assigned.
• Complete accurate and timely daily session documentation.
• Prepare progress reports and other required documentation within established timelines.
• Monitor each child’s progress and modify intervention strategies as appropriate.

Family Collaboration

• Partner with parents and caregivers to identify priorities and support developmental progress.
• Educate families on practical strategies that can be incorporated into everyday routines.
• Maintain consistent communication with caregivers regarding goals, progress, and recommendations.
• Provide hands-on guidance to promote independence and participation in daily activities.

Team Collaboration & Compliance

• Collaborate with service coordinators, therapists, and other members of the child’s multidisciplinary team.
• Follow all applicable  New York State Early Intervention Program requirements and guidelines.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, service records, and required forms.
• Follow agency requirements related to service delivery and billing.

Qualifications

Required

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Active  New York State Occupational Therapy license .
• Experience working with children; pediatric experience is preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with families and the clinical team.

Preferred

• Experience providing Early Intervention or home-based pediatric services.
• Experience working with children ages birth to 3.
• Knowledge of sensory processing, developmental milestones, and pediatric occupational therapy interventions.
• Bilingual skills, particularly Spanish, are a plus.
• Familiarity with Early Intervention documentation systems such as ProviderSoft.
