Submission of an application does not guarantee consideration for or selection for a specific position.Position SummaryThe Clinical Research Nurse supports the coordination and implementation of clinical research studies and provides nursing care and research-related clinical services in accordance with approved research protocols. The Clinical Research Nurse works closely with investigators, research staff, study participants, sponsors, and other stakeholders to support the safe and effective conduct of clinical research.Responsibilities may vary depending on the specific research study and may include participant recruitment and screening, informed consent, clinical assessments and procedures, administration of study medications or interventions, specimen collection, participant education, data collection, regulatory activities, and coordination of day-to-day research activities.Job FunctionsResponsibilities may include, but are not limited to:Coordinate and facilitate clinical research activities in accordance with approved study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), applicable regulations, and organizational requirements.Review medical records and identify, recruit, and screen potential research participants for study eligibility.Participate in the informed consent process and provide participants and their legally authorized representatives, as applicable, with study-related education and information.Perform nursing assessments and study-related clinical procedures within the individual's professional scope of practice and in accordance with protocol requirements.Administer or assist with the administration of study medications, injections, infusions, devices, or other interventions as authorized and required by the applicable research protocol.Collect and process biological specimens and perform other protocol-required procedures, which may include vital signs and ECG/EKG testing.Coordinate participant study visits, appointments, follow-up activities, and referrals.Serve as a clinical resource and liaison among research participants, families or legally authorized representatives, investigators, healthcare providers, and research staff.Collect, record, maintain, and verify clinical research data and study documentation.Monitor participants for clinical changes and potential adverse events and assist with the identification, documentation, and reporting of adverse events and other reportable events in accordance with applicable requirements.Maintain study records and assist with regulatory documentation, reports, and correspondence.Assist with study initiation, monitoring visits, audits, closeout activities, and other research-related activities as applicable.Collaborate with investigators and other research team members to identify and address study-related issues and support protocol compliance.Maintain participant confidentiality and privacy and ensure compliance with applicable research, healthcare, safety, and professional requirements.Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.Minimum RequirementsEducation and Experience:Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.Qualified candidates will possess:Three or more years of experience as a Clinical Research Nurse or Research Nurse; orTwo or more years of clinical nursing experience in a relevant specialty and two or more years of clinical research nursing experience.Equivalent combinations of relevant clinical nursing and research experience may be considered depending on the requirements of the specific position.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Demonstrated nursing competency within the individual's professional scope of practice, which may include nursing assessments, vital signs, ECG/EKG procedures, injections, infusions, medication administration, and specimen collection.Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical medicine, medication administration, and drug calculations.Knowledge of clinical research principles, clinical trials, and Good Clinical Practice.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.Ability to interact professionally and effectively with research participants, families, investigators, healthcare providers, research staff, and other stakeholders.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to use or learn electronic health records, clinical research databases, and other research-related technology platforms.Ability to complete study-specific training and perform assigned responsibilities in accordance with applicable protocols and requirements.Licensure and Certifications:Valid RN license from the State of Georgia.Clinical research certification is preferred but not required unless specified for a particular opportunity.Additional InformationSpecific duties, schedules, minimum qualifications, preferred experience, clinical specialty requirements, and other requirements may vary based on the research study and position available.
