Alternate Locations: Work from Home Work Arrangement:Remote : Work at home employee residing outside of a commutable distance to an office location.Relocation assistance: is not available for this opportunity.Requisition #: 76672The Role at a GlanceAs a Sr. Group Underwriter on the Specialty Health team, you will underwrite new and existing business for Lincoln's Supplemental Health (Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity) products. You'll assess risk, develop pricing recommendations, and support profitable growth and customer retention through sound underwriting decisions.This role offers the opportunity to work independently on more complex underwriting assignments while partnering with Sales, Account Management, Product, Pricing, and Operations teams to drive business results. You'll build strong relationships, influence underwriting outcomes, contribute to process improvements, and continue to grow your technical and industry expertise.What you'll be doingUnderwrite new business, renewals, and amendments for Supplemental Health productsManage an assigned in-force book of businessAssess risk by evaluating group characteristics, demographics, participation, benefit design, claims experience, and other underwriting factorsPerform experience rating and collaborate with actuarial partners to evaluate pricing and riskApply underwriting guidelines, authority limits, and pricing methodologies to determine appropriate coverage terms and ratesMake underwriting decisions within assigned authority and recommend actions requiring additional review or approvalPrepare and communicate underwriting analyses, pricing recommendations, and renewal strategies to business partnersSupport the RFP process, including responding to underwriting requirements and completing submissions through third-party platformsCollaborate with Sales, Account Management, Product, Pricing, Operations, and underwriting partners across product lines to develop coordinated customer solutionsBuild and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners, support the development of underwriting expertise across the team, and serve as a trusted resource on underwriting strategies and risk assessmentIdentify opportunities to improve underwriting processes, tools, and reporting capabilitiesWhat we’re looking forMust-Haves:Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of degree)4+ years of Supplemental Health underwriting experienceStrong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environmentNice-to-have:Expertise in experience rating and renewal underwritingApplication DeadlineApplications for this position will be accepted through 1/24/27 subject to earlier closure due to applicant volume.What’s it like to work here?At Lincoln Financial, we love what we do. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.
