Underwriting Manager

Role: Medical Underwriting Manager leading a small group medical underwriting team, overseeing daily operations, performance, and development. Responsibilities Lead, coach, and evaluate underwriting staff to ensure high performance and engagement. Manage underwriting activities for new business, renewals, rescission reviews, and policy issuance. Make final risk decisions and support employee growth through training and development. Establish relationships with sales and external stakeholders to support business needs. Review claims and approval processes to ensure accuracy and compliance. Identify workflow improvements and analyze data for operational efficiency. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework preferred. At least 5 years of supervisory or management experience. Experience in Small Group and Data Base Underwriting. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
