HVAC Journeyman - Chillers - Sign-On Bonus Eligible!

Location Long Island City, NY / NYC Responsibilities Perform service of equipment, including inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality (e.g., chillers, fan coils, water source heat pumps, air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, condenser tubes). Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring. Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks. Perform intermediate and advanced independent diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipefitting, and brazing of commercial HVAC equipment. Conduct warranty service application by independently inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of all commercial HVAC equipment. Educate technical and non‑technical customers on proper use of equipment, maintenance schedules, and operating manual usage. Lead and participate in rebuilding and retrofitting commercial HVAC units, directing apprentice technicians through hands‑on demonstrations. Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other required documents in a timely manner. Download programs into commercial HVAC equipment and microcontrollers, and analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal performance. Participate in available training through regional technician trainers and off‑site learning modules. Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets. Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld. Complete job‑site hazard assessments prior to initiating service and adhere to Daikin Applied and customer safety policies and OSHA guidelines. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Associates Degree or technical school HVAC certification (preferred). 5+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Accepted as a Journeyman by the union. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district. Availability for rotational emergency call support as required. Previous experience mentoring less‑experienced technicians. EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred). OSHA 10 certification (preferred). Current first aid / CPR card (preferred). Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Compensation & Benefits The expected hourly rate for this position is $58–$62 in NY. The rate is subject to the amount outlined in the collective bargaining agreement and may change based on the level offered.
