Quality Assurance Technician

As our QA Technician, you will inspect, test, and document hardware, materials, and assemblies across LEAP’s production and integration lines, helping ensure every part that goes into our systems meets rigorous aerospace quality, safety, and reliability standards before it moves to the next step. Description As our QA Technician, you will inspect, test, and document hardware, materials, and assemblies across LEAP’s production and integration lines, helping ensure every part that goes into our systems meets rigorous aerospace quality, safety, and reliability standards before it moves to the next step. Own Core Responsibilities Perform receiving inspection using the FARO arm (portable CMM), laser tracker, and other precision measurement tools to verify parts and materials against engineering drawings and specifications Establish and maintain basic calibration standards and procedures for inspection, measuring, and test equipment Execute in-process and final inspections and functional conformance checks throughout production Identify, document, and disposition non-conformances (NCRs) and support root cause and corrective action activities Support first article inspections (FAI), lot acceptance, and supplier receiving inspection Partner with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence Inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective action records Calibration and measurement records for test and inspection equipment First article inspection (AS9102) and lot acceptance documentation Updated work instructions, inspection criteria, and quality checklists Traceability records that support internal audits and customer quality reviews Impacts and Outcomes Protect the quality and integrity of flight and mission hardware, keeping production and launch milestones on schedule Focus on catching and containing defects before they reach the next operation, not just completing inspection checklists Own inspection outcomes and documentation for every part and assembly that passes through your station Uphold inspection, calibration, and non-conformance standards that meet AS9100 / aerospace quality requirements Identify recurring defects and process risks, elevate them, and help drive corrective and preventive actions Grow from performing standard inspections at Level 1 toward becoming a true metrology expert at Level 4 — owning advanced measurement systems like the FARO arm and laser tracker, setting calibration standards, and mentoring other technicians What You Bring to the Team Experience performing quality inspection, testing, or metrology in a manufacturing, aerospace, or precision-machining environment Working knowledge of GD&T, blueprint/drawing reading, and precision measurement tools such as a FARO arm, laser tracker, calipers, and micrometers Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain Organized, detail-oriented approach to inspection records, calibration logs, and non-conformance documentation Ability to learn new inspection tools, test equipment, or quality systems as needed Motivated to build deep, hands-on mastery of metrology equipment and technique over time Bonus Points Experience with AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality systems, First Article Inspection (AS9102), or similar aerospace quality standards CMM programming or operation experience Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing, or other continuous-improvement training Experience in a high-growth, startup, or technically complex aerospace, defense, or space hardware environment Compensation QA Technician is a leveled role. Hourly pay is based on the level assigned at hire and reflects scope, experience, and independence: The estimated salary range for this role reflects various compensation factors. The final offer depends on factors such as work experience, education, training, key skills, and business needs. In addition, LEAP provides a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, which includes: Equity Program: Equity plan participation is available to all employees following an initial 90-day employment period and is performance-based. Equity allocations are determined on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed. Managers may make recommendations based on individual and team performance.
