The Operations Supervisor will provide direction, lead staff, and ensure customer requirements are met while achieving company goals. Position Summary Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hourly workforce to ensure daily tasks—including driver deliveries, loading/unloading trailers, and customer service—are executed in alignment with company service and cost objectives. Supervise all processes, manage performance of direct reports, make corrective and disciplinary decisions, and participate in hiring and customer meetings. Major Responsibilities People Ensure supervisors and associates are trained, competent, and understand how their work supports customer objectives Communicate specific, measurable performance standards Interview and recommend hourly associates for hire Monitor attendance, productivity, and other performance standards; provide coaching and counseling Motivate and engage associates through team recognition and accomplishment focus Operations Supervise customer service, freight loading/unloading, dispatch, and documentation/control procedures Conduct team meetings and recommend changes to improve productivity Provide relief coverage when associate time‑off or absences occur Maintain thorough knowledge of site operating systems for compliance and exception resolution Complete required records and reports promptly and accurately Finance Ensure compliance with financial policies (MPG tracking, returns, damages, etc.) Understand decision‑making impact on profitability Manage associate hours and activities to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets Safety Align associate activities with location safety strategy Provide safety communication, training, feedback, and direction Maintain compliance with all regulatory agencies and company policies Conduct safety observations Growth / Customer Experience Understand and exceed location‑specific customer goals and objectives Communicate commitment to meeting customer objectives Identify areas for continuous improvement Fleet / Assets Plan work assignments for efficient fleet equipment use Ensure associates safely and efficiently operate equipment Coordinate with vendors to maintain equipment Work with Penske Truck Leasing to complete preventive maintenance schedules Participate in other projects and tasks as assigned Job Qualifications Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills; ability to build rapport and maintain solid relationships with associates, leaders, and customers Efficient, independent work with strong time‑management and organizational skills Strong written and oral communication and active listening skills Problem‑solving, critical thinking, and independent decision‑making ability Experience driving process improvement and leading change Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Ownership and responsibility to run the operation with urgency High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred Regular, predictable, full attendance essential Willingness to travel as needed; comply with background investigation and drug screening requirements Physical Requirements Perform required duties such as reading, communicating, recalling information, and following instructions Stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach; occasionally lift or move up to 25 lb/12 kg Require close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision; adjust focus as needed Reasonable accommodations may be provided for disabilities Penske is an Equal Opportunity Employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr North American Transportation Management Institute
