Director of Procurement
RISE: A Real Estate Company
Director of Procurement Experience Level: Senior Leadership This position is intended for an experienced procurement leader with a demonstrated history of developing enterprise purchasing strategies, negotiating national supplier agreements, and building high-performing procurement organizations within construction, real estate development, or related industries. Position Overview RISE is seeking an experienced Director of Procurement to lead the procurement function across our construction division. This role owns the enterprise procurement strategy, national purchasing program, supplier relationships, sourcing initiatives, procurement systems, governance, and cost management efforts supporting construction operations across the organization. This is not a purchasing manager position. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for building and leading a procurement organization that creates long-term value through disciplined sourcing, supplier partnerships, operational excellence, and financial stewardship. Reporting to executive construction leadership, this individual will establish procurement standards that improve project execution, reduce risk, strengthen supplier relationships, and support continued growth across the RISE portfolio. Why RISE
- Opportunity to build and lead the procurement function for a growing, vertically integrated Owner/Developer/General Contractor.
- Direct partnership with executive leadership and meaningful influence on company strategy.
- Opportunity to shape procurement standards, supplier relationships, and purchasing strategy across the enterprise.
- Competitive compensation package with performance-based incentives.
- High-growth environment with significant opportunity for long-term career advancement.
- Lead the construction procurement function and establish the enterprise procurement strategy.
- Develop the procurement operating model, policies, governance, and performance standards.
- Align procurement priorities with company objectives while remaining accountable for enterprise procurement outcomes.
- Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement organization.
- Own the national purchasing program and enterprise master supplier agreements.
- Develop sourcing strategies that leverage enterprise purchasing power.
- Negotiate national agreements that improve pricing, terms, rebates, service levels, and material availability.
- Build strategic supplier partnerships that support long-term operational success.
- Own procurement savings initiatives and enterprise purchasing performance.
- Develop value engineering strategies that reduce cost while maintaining quality and schedule.
- Monitor procurement performance against budget objectives and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Partner with Construction, Preconstruction, and Finance leadership to support project profitability.
- Lead the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program.
- Develop supplier segmentation strategies, scorecards, business reviews, and performance metrics.
- Establish portfolio-wide supply chain risk mitigation strategies, including dual sourcing and contingency planning.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships while protecting company interests.
- Lead the selection, implementation, and continuous improvement of procurement, ERP, and project management systems.
- Standardize procurement workflows and purchasing processes across the organization.
- Drive procurement digital transformation initiatives that improve efficiency, reporting, and data integrity.
- Develop procurement dashboards, KPIs, and executive reporting.
- Provide meaningful insights into procurement performance, supplier activity, project forecasting, spend analysis, and capital planning.
- Support executive decision-making through timely and accurate reporting.
- Establish procurement policies and governance standards across the construction division.
- Oversee vendor onboarding requirements, insurance compliance, lien waiver administration, documentation controls, and contract compliance.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, contractual obligations, and risk management standards.
- Establish a scalable procurement organization capable of supporting continued company growth.
- Strengthen national supplier relationships and negotiate enterprise purchasing agreements.
- Improve purchasing consistency across projects and regions.
- Deliver measurable procurement savings while protecting quality and project schedules.
- Implement standardized procurement policies, workflows, and reporting.
- Improve executive visibility into procurement performance through meaningful analytics and KPIs.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Six or more years of procurement, sourcing, or purchasing experience, including significant leadership experience within construction, homebuilding, or real estate development.
- Experience building and leading procurement teams or enterprise procurement functions.
- Experience managing leaders and developing high-performing teams.
- Experience negotiating and administering national or multi-region purchasing programs and master supplier agreements.
- Demonstrated success developing procurement strategy, governance, policies, and measurable cost savings initiatives.
- Multifamily or commercial construction procurement experience.
- Experience managing procurement across multiple geographic markets.
- Experience implementing enterprise procurement, ERP, or project management systems such as Procore, Sage 300 CRE, Kojo, or similar platforms.
- CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management)
- CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional)
- Executive-level strategic sourcing and contract negotiation skills.
- Strong understanding of construction procurement, buyout, material planning, and supplier management.
- Demonstrated ability to build procurement organizations and align teams with enterprise objectives.
- Excellent financial and business acumen with experience managing enterprise purchasing performance.
- Deep understanding of value engineering, long-lead procurement strategies, supply chain risk management, and portfolio purchasing.
- Experience leading organizational change, process improvement, and procurement transformation initiatives.
- Executive-level communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
- High level of professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion when managing confidential supplier and company information.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and the Microsoft 365 platform.
- Experience owning or implementing procurement, ERP, construction management, and project management platforms.
- Comfortable leveraging AI-enabled tools to improve drafting, reporting, research, organization, and workflow efficiency.
- Demonstrates sound judgment when using AI-generated content by validating information for accuracy while protecting confidential company, vendor, resident, and employee information.
- You enjoy building organizations, not simply managing purchasing transactions.
- You have successfully negotiated enterprise supplier agreements that delivered measurable business value.
- You think strategically while remaining highly execution-focused.
- You are passionate about developing people, improving processes, and creating scalable procurement operations.
- You measure success through operational performance, supplier partnerships, financial results, and project outcomes.
- You thrive in environments that value ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- RISE is a vertically integrated real estate company with approximately $4 billion in assets under management across development, construction, property management, military housing, and asset management.
- Unlike traditional general contractors, we develop, build, own, and operate many of the communities we construct. That long-term ownership perspective drives every decision we make-from preconstruction and procurement through project completion and ongoing operations.
- As our construction platform continues to grow, we are investing in the people, processes, and systems that will support scalable growth while delivering projects on time, on budget, and at the highest level of quality.
