Salary: USD 5,647.00 – 7,326.00 monthly (USD 67,764.00 – 87,912.00 annually). Overview The Construction Inspection Supervisor will lead, mentor, and train construction personnel through empowerment, communication, and delegated authority. The role develops work plans aligned with the Department's strategic vision, delegates authority, and ensures resources for staff success. It supervises technical staff, implements performance plans, and directs construction and alternative delivery projects within scope, schedule, and budget. Qualifications High school diploma and 5 years of demonstrated competency in a related field. Some positions require a valid Class D driver’s license to operate vehicles in Tennessee. Some positions require a Class A Commercial Driver’s License with N endorsement without a Code O restriction, valid in Tennessee (or to be obtained within 11 months of hire). Knowledge of interviewing practices, group leading principles, conflict resolution. Experience with TDOT quality assurance process and construction standards. Responsibilities Manage resources and staff utilization; assist Project Managers in coordinating external partners with the Professional Services Division. Ensure quality and work outcomes by implementing construction standards, coordinating with the Resident Engineer and Materials and Tests Lab. Support the Construction Proficiency Program by reviewing and approving module documents and records, scheduling exams, classes, and demonstrations. Participate in Project Teams to align inspection plans with project vision; assist in defining goals for scope, schedule, budget, and quality. Lead the construction team in providing exceptional customer service and effective listening, documentation, and communication. Provide input on revisions to design and construction specifications, standards, and procedures to ensure quality management and risk mitigation. Provide input on national best practices and emerging technologies to incorporate into TDOT guidance. Develop and implement a tracking mechanism that ensures contractual agreements, scope, schedule, budget, and quality support the Department’s Work Program. Develop performance factors for the unit to ensure consistent deliverables and risk mitigation; manage resources, provide feedback, training, and tools.
