Lead HVAC Technician – Direct High-Efficiency Residential and Light Commercial Installations

Job Overview

• Company: Professor Gatsby's Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical

• Salary/Pay Rate: $33 to $50 per hour plus Bonuses and Incentives.

• Location: West Berlin, NJ.

• Job/Employment Type: Full-Time.

• Schedule: Monday - Friday. Occasional Saturday installs with bonus.

• Project Scope: Residential & Commercial HVAC / Mechanical

• Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: Valid Driver’s License.

The Opportunity You will serve as the field leader for your install crew, driving the successful execution of high-efficiency HVAC installations for a top-rated, family-owned company. This role offers the autonomy to manage your own crew and oversee complex projects from start to finish. You will make a direct impact by ensuring technical excellence and providing superior comfort solutions to our loyal customers.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Lead a dedicated installation crew, including an experienced technician and apprentice, to ensure high-quality project delivery.

• Execute full one-day installations of furnace and AC split systems, including 80% and 90%+ efficiency units.

• Manage the complete replacement of venting and line sets to ensure optimal system performance and safety.

• Coordinate project communication between homeowners and the office to maintain transparency and customer satisfaction.

• Demonstrate technical precision by performing hands-on installations of residential and light commercial systems.

• Mentor junior team members through on-site training to foster professional growth and maintain safety protocols.

• Troubleshoot real-time mechanical issues to prevent project delays and ensure a five-star service experience.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in HVAC installation.

• Proven ability to perform full split system replacements, including venting and line sets, within a one-day timeframe.

• Physical ability to lift at least 50 lbs and perform all manual tasks associated with HVAC field operations.

• Valid driver’s license with a commitment to maintaining a safe driving record.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Previous project management or crew leadership experience within the HVAC industry.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

• Advanced knowledge of both 80% and 90%+ efficiency heating and cooling systems.

  • Experience with system startup and diagnosis.

  • Experience with refrigerant charging and diagnosis.

• Strong communication skills and a detail-oriented approach to project documentation.
