Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

In this rewarding contract opportunity, you will have the chance to make a meaningful impact as part of a dedicated instructional team supporting young learners on the autism spectrum. This role focuses on teaching in a non-verbal, self-contained Pre-K–1st grade classroom for students with autism, with six students and two paraprofessionals. Collaboration is at the core of this setting, as each classroom is part of a larger program that includes a full team of specialists—such as BCBA, OT, PT, and others—committed to supporting student needs and professional growth.

What we look for:

• Current TOSD + PreK–3 or TOH certification (required)
• Demonstrated experience teaching in autism-specific settings, especially with nonverbal students
• Strong understanding of functional behavior strategies and communication methods to foster independence and growth
• Comfortable working with high-needs student populations in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
• Ability to lead and coordinate with paraprofessionals in the classroom
• Compassionate, patient, and flexible approach to diverse learning needs

Core Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement individualized, evidence-based instruction that prioritizes functional communication and behavior
• Work collaboratively with paraprofessionals and a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive student support
• Adapt teaching materials and strategies to meet students at their current skill levels
• Monitor student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in team meetings
• Foster a safe, structured, and inclusive environment where each student can thrive

Schedule runs within elementary hours from 8:30am to 3:30 pm.
