The Operations Manager is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and operational support for the business within the Denver market. This role ensures that projects are executed safely, efficiently, profitably, and to Cherry’s standards for safety, quality, and production.

Working closely with the City Leader, Project Managers, Field Managers, and Foremen, the Operations Manager provides hands-on operational leadership, develops field talent, allocates manpower, resolves project challenges, and builds strong relationships with employees, subcontractors, and general contractors.

This position is a key driver of operational excellence, team development, accountability, and continuous improvement within the city market.

Responsibilities:

55% – Overseeing day-to-day commercial painting operations from a high level within your city market.

• Establish and maintain a safety-first culture across all projects, employees, and subcontractors.
• Support recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retention of field personnel.
• Train, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Field Managers, and Foremen.
• Work closely with Project Managers to effectively allocate and move manpower based on project needs.
• Meet regularly with general contractors to ensure Cherry is delivering on commitments, protecting project sequence, and proactively resolving issues.
• Attend project meetings to address:
• • Schedule and sequencing concerns
  • Change order collection
  • Quality issues
  • Risk management
  • Safety issues
• Ensure change order logs and extra work are properly documented, tracked, and collected.
• Review job cost sheets to ensure profitability and effective cost control.
• Conduct regular job walks with Project Managers and Field Managers to evaluate project performance and develop team members.
• Review scheduling of field staff to ensure projects are properly staffed and supported.
• Identify, recruit, onboard, and manage qualified subcontractors.
• • Evaluate subcontractor capabilities and performance.
  • Establish appropriate pay rates.
  • Set clear expectations and hold subcontractors accountable.
• Continuously evaluate and improve safety standards and practices within the city market.
• Understand the unique aspects of each job type and how Cherry executes them.
• Identify operational inefficiencies and implement corrective actions, finding lean ways to execute.
• Conduct regular Field Manager and Foremen meetings to identify concerns and opportunities for improvement using the EOS system.
• Conduct frequent job walks to ensure safety, quality, and production standards are being met.
• Partner with the team to implement the vision and execution of the VTO.
• Support the development of new products, services, and subsidiaries.
• Bring an innovative approach to projects, operational challenges, and future products.
• Participate in preconstruction meetings to ensure a seamless transition from estimating and project management to field operations.

15% – Assist project managers and field managers to ensure jobs are approached with an innovative spirit and the right process.

• Use your expertise to collaborate on project strategy and execution plans.
• Assist with product selection and provide technical guidance on challenging or unique projects.
• Provide advice when unexpected issues arise on jobsites.
• Review schedules for changes that impact our bottom line.
• Assist with forecasting labor requirements and costs to improve project profitability.

10% – Take part in buyout meetings and scope review for potential projects.

• Provide operational and field expertise during preconstruction and estimating discussions.
• Attend meetings with general contractors and help position Cherry as the preferred painting contractor through meetings, phone conversations, and entertainment.

10% – Provide leadership to the market.

• Continuously evaluate training and development needs and implement solutions.
• Participate in L10 integrator meetings.
• Lead L10 operations meetings.
• Participate in L10 project manager meetings as needed.

10% – Handle problem jobs.

• Provide high-level leadership and support on projects that are experiencing challenges.
• Develop and implement action plans, systems, and milestones to get projects back on track.
• Work directly with general contractors to establish what Cherry needs to be successful.
• Establish clear accountability within the project team.
• Follow up daily or weekly, as appropriate, to secure the win.
