Landscape Architect
Arup
Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach have set us apart for 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world. Arup’s award‑winning Landscape Architecture team in Bristol and Cardiff brings together landscape designers and planners to deliver integrated, sustainable design solutions across the UK and internationally. Our work spans landscape assessment, LVIA, green infrastructure, masterplanning, detailed design and visualisation across projects ranging from major infrastructure and transport schemes to urban regeneration, streetscapes and green buildings. Working collaboratively across disciplines, we combine creativity and technical expertise to shape high‑quality places that respond to people, nature and the environment. Climate change • Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. Human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas. Our award-winning landscape architecture practice is growing in Bristol! We are seeking a talented Landscape Architect to be based in our Bristol or Cardiff Bay offices with flexible collaborative and hybrid working options available. We are an integrated team of landscape designers and landscape planners, with projects including landscape assessment and strategy, LVIA, green infrastructure strategies, concept design, masterplanning, detailed design, landscape management, visualisations and 3D modelling. We have a diverse workload of high‑profile projects across the UK and internationally, ranging in scale from environmental infrastructure design, major transportation projects through to restoration, town centre regeneration, streetscape design and green buildings. We are differentiated from our competitors by our ability to combine skills to solve particularly complex or unusual problems and help our clients to create an integrated vision with a full commitment to develop successful and sustainable places. We expect our designers to think creatively, innovatively, and develop the best outcomes for people, nature, and the environment. At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve. This role does not meet the criteria for visa sponsorship under the UK immigration system. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Is this role right for you? As a Landscape Architect within Arup, the focus of this role will be to provide a design lead, developing and running your own projects. You will be working alongside an unrivalled community of experts, who will support and nurture your growth from the outset. In return, you’ll help us deliver effective and professional services in a wide range of sectors for varied and high-profile clients. The Arup portfolio is exciting and diverse, exposing you to a range of project scales and types, each offering their own opportunity for tailored personal development. The candidate will be expected to work across the Mid-West Region and be based in Bristol or Cardiff and travel to sites via public transport and by hire car requiring a driving license. We’re looking for an applicant with passion for landscape, curiosity, personal drive and technical knowhow. If you can combine these skills with an understanding of the landscape architecture industry and a desire to deliver excellent services for clients, we’d like to hear from you. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications, attributes, and skills as well as an exceptional report writing ability, and an interest in design as part of an integrated design and assessment process:
