Heavy Equipment Shop Service Technician

Position: Heavy Equipment Shop Service Technician – Berlin, CT Alta Equipment Company seeks a skilled technician to perform heavy equipment repair and maintenance responsibilities at our Berlin, CT branch. Responsibilities Complete inspections Removal and installation of parts Implementation of optional accessories Maintenance Basic diagnosis and troubleshooting Testing General repairs Performs other duties as assigned Consistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time Qualifications Three years of previous heavy equipment repair experience is required Excellent mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of engine, power train, hydraulics, and electrical systems Possess own tools A positive attitude and high energy Must have a clean driving record Position may evolve into a Field Technician role depending on experience Computer skills: Microsoft Outlook Language skills – Intermediate: Ability to read, interpret, and write documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Mathematical skills – Basic: Ability to perform arithmetic with numbers ranging from two digits to multiples of 10 and 100, using units of U.S. money, weight measurement, volume, and distance. Reasoning ability – Intermediate: Ability to apply common sense in following written, oral, or diagram instructions; handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical Demands and Work Environment Physical/Sensory Functions: Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands; frequently talk/hear, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; occasionally sit. Lift and/or Move Functions: Regularly lift up to 25 pounds; frequently lift 26 to 50 pounds; occasionally lift 51 to 100+ pounds. Work Environment: Regularly work near moving mechanical parts; frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions; occasionally work in wet or humid conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
