Product Safety & Compliance Specialist, Custom Products & Collectibles This role is based in Dallas, TX and requires you to work onsite 4 days per week, with 1 day remote. To be considered, you must live within commuting distance, as regular in-person collaboration is a key part of the role. At BDA, product compliance is about more than checking boxes — it’s about helping bring creative products to life in a safe and compliant manner. We are looking for a Consumer Product Safety & Compliance Specialist to support the testing, documentation, and regulatory review of bespoke and off-the-shelf products across a variety of client programs. Our work includes custom promotional products for kids, gaming collectible products, bobbleheads and sporting event merchandise, branded consumer goods, and other unique products designed for well-known brands and their customers. In this role, you’ll help ensure products meet applicable safety and regulatory requirements before they reach consumers. You’ll partner with internal teams, external clients, and testing labs to coordinate test plans, review reports, manage documentation, and help outline what is needed to move products forward safely and compliantly.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Review and interpret consumer product regulations (e.g., CPSIA, ASTM, FDA, FCC, Prop 65) applicable to product categories. Ensure products comply with U.S. and international safety standards, including labeling requirements. Ensure products comply with all applicable client specific requirements. Coordinate product testing with third‑party laboratories. Evaluate product specifications, bills of materials, and technical documentation for compliance risks. Partner with product development, sourcing, and quality teams to integrate compliance requirements early in the design process. Maintain technical files, declarations of conformity, certificates, and compliance documentation. Support supplier audits and ensure vendor compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Assist with import/export compliance documentation and EPR/Sustainability related tasks.

JOB SKILLS AND TRAITS

Experience working with testing labs and certification processes. Excellent analytical, organizational, and documentation skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical requirements into business actions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and compliance/document management systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Health & Safety, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience and/or relevant certifications in product safety, regulatory compliance, or consumer product compliance may also be considered. 3–5+ years of experience in consumer product safety, regulatory compliance, or related field. Strong knowledge of consumer product regulations (e.g., CPSIA, ASTM, ISO standards).

PREFERRED

One who is passionate about Sustainability or has experience navigating Extended Producer Responsibility requirements.

SALARY & BENEFITS

We are pleased to share the base salary range for this position is $82,000 to $85,000. If you are hired at BDA, your compensation will be determined based on factors that may include geographic location, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any offer. In the spirit of pay transparency, the range listed is the full base salary range for the role and hiring at the top of the range would not be typical, in order to allow for future salary growth. The range listed is just one component of BDA’s total compensation and rewards programs, which includes robust PTO; vacation, a paid volunteer day, holidays and summer Fridays, Benefits; medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, 401k; tuition reimbursement, mental health and financial wellness programs and professional development opportunities including tuition reimbursement. Certain revenue‑generating positions may be eligible for incentive compensation.
