Full‑Time Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and Part‑time Psychiatrist in Acute Psychiatric Services for a Large Public Health and Hospital System in Silicon Valley Better Health for All. County of Santa Clara Health System (CSCHS), a large public teaching healthcare system affiliated with Stanford University School of Medicine, is seeking a full‑time BE/BC general psychiatrist with fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry to support our new Behavioral Health Pavilion and a part‑time BC/BE psychiatrist to join our Division of Acute Psychiatric Services (APS). The system comprises four hospitals: Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (731 beds), O’Connor Hospital (358 beds), Saint Louise Regional Hospital (93 beds), and Regional Medical Center (258 beds). In addition, it includes a network of primary care clinics, urgent care, dental services, primary care behavioral health services, and a range of specialty services. SCVMC hosts four residency programs and one fellowship program, and partners with Stanford University SOM for the training of medical students, residents, and fellows. It is an ACS‑verified Level 1 Trauma Center, a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, an ABA‑verified Burn Center, a Primary Stroke Center, a Level 4 NICU, and a nationally recognized CARF‑accredited Rehabilitation Center. Providers in our health system also use an integrated Epic electronic health record that brings together system‑wide patient information. The HIMSS recognized SCVMC for achieving Stage 7 success. About the Department of Psychiatry The Department of Psychiatry staffs 90 employed psychiatrists, contracted psychiatrists, psychologists, advanced practice providers, and licensed clinical social workers who provide prevention, education, and treatment for all residents of Santa Clara County, regardless of ability to pay. It operates a 24/7 psychiatric emergency room, a seven‑day mental health urgent care clinic, two inpatient units, adult and juvenile custody clinics, and numerous mental health and substance treatment clinics. The Consultation and Liaison Psychiatry division provides inpatient consults to internal medicine, surgery, OB/GYN, pediatrics, trauma, rehab, and the emergency department. The environment is collegial, integrating acute psychiatric care with acute medical issues and working closely with multiple specialties. Our staff are ethnically diverse and provide trauma‑informed, culturally appropriate services in many languages. About the Positions Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist This position requires board certification or board eligibility with plans to take the board in general psychiatry and/or child and adolescent psychiatry during the hiring year. The candidate will join our team to support our new Behavioral Health Pavilion, providing emergency and inpatient services. The ideal candidate will have experience and proficiency in child and adolescent psychiatric care for a diverse patient population in a culturally sensitive way and may also provide psychiatric services to adults in acute psychiatric settings. APS Psychiatrist The ideal candidate will have experience working with psychiatric patients with serious mental illness and a demonstrated history of work in public or community psychiatry. The candidate will also have demonstrated experience in emergency psychiatry, consultation liaison, or inpatient psychiatric settings.
