This position is responsible for the planning, delivery and management of direct patient care using the nursing process and adhering to the standards of nursing practice within a centralized and decentralized Ambulatory setting.
Major Responsibilities:
- Performs patient assessment according to standard procedure.
- Provides care utilizing the nursing process.
- Initiates and implements nursing interventions as directed.
- Evaluates patient progress as indicated or required.
- Documents patient care according to standard procedure.
Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
- Required: 1. Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration. 2. ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification required. 3. BLS is a requirement for every RN unless advance cardiac life support (ACLS) certification is current, in addition to any unit specific certifications and competencies.
- Preferred: 1. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred. 2. ONCC certification applicable to specific unit
Experience/Skills:
- Required: 1. Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing. 2. Minimum 1 year of Oncology related experience within the last three years 3. Chemotherapy-related experience within the last three years
- Preferred: 1. Minimum of 2 years' experience with 1 year in desirable field.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
