CNC Machinist Apprentice

The apprentice shall receive on the job training as well as related supplemental instruction with our partners at Lower Columbia College to become a qualified journey-level Machinist.LifePort Machinist Duties and Responsibilities:Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and informs lead person of discrepancies.Thoroughly inspects first part runMeets job standard times with minimal supervisionRecognizes production problems and informs supervisorUnderstanding of basic machine language (G and M codes)Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications using standard measuring toolsReads and interprets manufacturing / Engineering drawingsPerforms miscellaneous duties in the machine shop as directedFollows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of equipment and proceduresOther duties as assignedJob Specification (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Works well in group problem solving situationsTechnical Skills - Pursues training and development opportunities; Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills.Customer Service - Meets commitmentsCommunication - Listens and gets clarification; Participates in meetingsTeamwork - Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; Gives and welcomes feedback; Contributes to building a positive team spirit; Supports everyone's efforts to succeedQuality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, and applies feedback to improve performance.
