Billing Specialist
Our client is seeking an experienced Billing Specialist to join their growing accounting team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in construction billing, contract administration, and project-based invoicing. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate billing, maintaining compliance with contractual requirements, and supporting the financial success of multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and process customer invoices for construction projects
- Verify billing accuracy against contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation
- Track project costs and billing milestones to ensure timely invoicing
- Manage progress billing, retainage tracking, and contract compliance requirements
- Reconcile billing discrepancies and research customer inquiries
- Collaborate with project managers, accounting staff, subcontractors, and clients regarding billing status and documentation
- Maintain accurate project records, billing files, and supporting documentation
- Assist with collections efforts and follow up on outstanding invoices as needed
- Support month-end close activities, reporting, and account reconciliations
- Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance billing efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications
- 3+ years of billing experience, preferably within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of project-based billing, contract administration, and retainage
- Experience working with construction accounting or ERP systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
