Rural Carrier Associate (RCA)

Job Title RURAL CARR ASSOC/SRV REG RTE – Rural Carrier Associate/Special Route Employee Services Location Athens, Tennessee or Niota, Tennessee. Applicants may also be required to work in surrounding post offices. Employment Type Non-Exempt, non-career position. Hours and days vary. Salary: $19.94 per hour, paid bi-weekly. Eligibility & Qualifications U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien, citizen of American Samoa or any U.S. territory. Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record and at least two years of unsupervised driving of passenger cars or larger vehicles (including U.S. military installations worldwide). Must possess a right‑hand side vehicle. Available to work on an as‑needed basis. Duties and Responsibilities Sort and arrange mail in delivery sequence for the assigned route. Receive and sign for accountable mail; load mail into vehicle. Deliver mail to customers along the prescribed route, collect monies and receipts, and pick up mail from roadside boxes. Sell stamps, stamped paper, and money orders; accept C.O.D., registered, certified, insured mail, and parcel post. Provide routine information and requested forms to customers. Return collected, undeliverable, and forwarded mail, and submit monies and receipts to the post office. Prepare mail for forwarding, maintain change‑of‑address records, prepare daily trip reports, and maintain a list of customers on the route. Conduct special surveys when required, maintain inventory of stamps and stamped paper, and provide mail security at all times.
