Job Description Covenant Village of Golden Valley (Golden Valley, Minnesota), part of a nationwide family of CCRC's: Covenant Retirement Communities, 5th largest LeadingAge Ziegler Top 100, is seeking Registered Nurses. This position ensures that quality care is delivered through assessment and monitoring of staff performance, physician contact, care planning and daily resident assessment. It also provides direct care to residents in accordance with nursing standards of practice, standard procedures, and established State and Federal regulations for skilled nursing facilities. Shifts for this position are: Part Time Days, Evenings and Overnights. This position reports to the Director of Nursing and is staff in nature. The role provides routine day‑to‑day direction and monitoring of the LPNs and nursing assistants assigned to the unit and provides direct care to residents. In performance of duties, the RN is entrusted to provide routine daily direction and monitor the work of the LPNs and nursing assistants on the unit, assuring a high standard of nursing care and satisfactory completion of tasks. The RN assists in the orientation of new nursing personnel and reinforces training standards to maintain a high quality of care. The RN assists in motivating LPNs and CNAs assigned to the nursing unit, provides explanation of nursing procedures, and assists staff to ensure ongoing understanding and training. Communications with the Director of Nursing regarding assessments, observations, and suggestions on problem areas, resident and employee activities, concerns, needs, conditions, etc., are performed regularly. The RN observes and evaluates residents' health, mental and emotional conditions and communicates significant changes to appropriate staff. When indicated, the RN is responsible for notifying the physician and family members according to prescribed procedures. The RN provides direct patient care as appropriate including, but not limited to, procedures such as catheter placement and care, colostomy care, suction, dressings, naso‑gastric tubes and other treatments. The RN participates in reports at the beginning and end of shifts to assure proper information about residents is communicated. The RN assists in the admission, orientation, and assessment of new residents, and ensures that physician orders for diets, therapy, medication, etc., are transcribed and communicated according to procedure.
