Position Summary: The Anesthesia Quality Institute (AQI) was established by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) in 2008 to facilitate practice-based quality management through education and quality data feedback. The AQI is a Patient Safety Organization (PSO) and home to NACOR, the largest anesthesia registry in the world. NACOR is also a Qualified Registry (QR) and Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR). The Registry Systems and Reporting Specialist is responsible for supporting the operational integrity, quality, and performance of AQI’s clinical registry portfolio, including the National Anesthesia Clinical Outcomes Registry (NACOR), NACOR + Anesthesia Community Registry (ACR), and other related registry initiatives. This role serves as the primary technical and operational resource for registry data validation, testing, issue investigation, quality assurance, Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) and Qualified Registry (QR) reporting support, and Tier 3 escalation of participant support tickets. The position collaborates with anesthesia practices, hospitals, healthcare organizations, EHR and AIMS vendors, third-party integration partners, and internal AQI teams to ensure the successful collection, validation, analysis, reporting, and submission of clinical data. This position is instrumental in operationalizing AQI registries through data quality improvement, participant onboarding, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) reporting submission and support, and continuous process improvement. Primary Position Responsibilities: Performs advanced testing and validation of clinical registry data feeds, interfaces, file submissions, and registry system enhancements to ensure data completeness, accuracy, and compliance with business and regulatory requirements. Supports user acceptance testing (UAT), regression testing, production validation, and release verification activities related to registry enhancements and participant data submissions; documents testing results, root cause analyses, corrective actions, support resolutions, and recommended process improvements. Analyzes incoming registry data to identify anomalies, errors, gaps, and opportunities to improve participant data quality and submission success rates. Serves as Tier 3 escalation resource for complex registry-related issues and escalations that cannot be resolved through standard support processes. Investigates and resolves escalated data quality, data mapping, data transmission, and system integration issues affecting NACOR and ACR. Partners with anesthesia practices, healthcare organizations, EHR vendors, AIMS vendors, and third-party integration partners to test, troubleshoot, and validate registry submissions. Supports AQI QCDR reporting programs by validating measure eligibility, investigating reporting discrepancies, resolving participant reporting issues, and conducting data quality reviews prior to CMS submission. Works closely with Registry Operations, Analytics Solutions, Quality and Regulatory Affairs, and AQI/ASA technical teams to operationalize new registry capabilities, reporting requirements, and CMS program changes. Provides technical guidance and training to registry participants and internal stakeholders regarding data submission requirements, measure specifications, and issue resolution processes. Supports the development and maintenance of registry implementation guides, data specifications, testing plans, and technical documentation. Serves as a subject matter expert for registry data specifications, submission requirements, validation rules, measure logic, and participant-facing technical documentation. Monitors emerging CMS reporting requirements, quality measure updates, and registry reporting standards and assists with operational impact assessments. Identifies opportunities to improve support workflows, monitoring, automation, reporting processes, and registry data quality controls, including through the application of artificial intelligence, machine learning, workflow automation, and intelligent decision-support technologies. Leverages generative AI, large language models (LLMs), natural language processing (NLP), and other emerging technologies to enhance registry operations, streamline data validation activities, accelerate issue investigation, and improve participant support processes while adhering to AQI and ASA governance, privacy, and security requirements. Supports the development and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and operational metrics, leveraging AI and machine learning tools where applicable, to monitor data quality and submission performance and proactively identify data quality issues, participant submission risks, and operational trends. Evaluates emerging AI technologies and healthcare informatics solutions applicable to clinical registries and recommends process improvements that enhance AQI operational effectiveness, reporting accuracy, or participant satisfaction. Ability to perform work in alignment with ASA core values: Dedication, Collaboration, Commitment to Excellence, Continuous Improvement. Position Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Minimum 3 years of experience supporting clinical registries, healthcare data systems, healthcare analytics, quality reporting programs, or healthcare technology platforms.
