Material Handler

The Material Handler is responsible for receiving materials, performing incoming inspections, and staging materials in designated manufacturing and inventory storage areas. This role ensures all received products are accurately processed, properly stored, and secured following receiving transactions. The Material Handler supports production and spare parts operations by maintaining high standards for quality, inventory accuracy, and material flow throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate material staging by pulling, issuing, tagging, and preparing jobs for production according to the production schedule.
  • Stage orders according to the Shipping Calendar schedule.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials promptly and accurately.
  • Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials and products safely.
  • Transport materials between loading docks, delivery trucks, storage areas, offsite warehouses, and manufacturing areas.
  • Ensure all materials are properly stored, labeled, and secured after receiving transactions.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
Inventory Control Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate receiving transactions for purchased inventory and customer-supplied materials.
  • Perform inventory transactions, including issuing parts to jobs and system updates.
  • Identify, label, and organize inventory locations to maintain inventory accuracy and traceability.
  • Perform and report cycle counts as assigned.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 15 years of warehouse, inventory control, or material handling experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • Ability to use a tape measure and perform basic math calculations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain clean, labeled, and organized inventory areas.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems or ERP systems preferred.
  • EPICOR experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lift materials regularly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to independently lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and with team members across departments.
Work Environment
  • Manufacturing and warehouse environment. Inside and outside work.
  • Exposure to moving equipment, forklifts, and material handling operations.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as applicable.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail, organization, and safety.
