Tooling Technician I

Tooling OperatorSupport tooling operations for casing, tubing, and slitter processes by performing teardown, rebuild, cleaning, staging, and basic inspection of tooling components while developing core mechanical skills in a safe and controlled environment.Duties & ResponsibilitiesAssist with teardown and rebuild of mill stands, roll sets, ID bars, and slitter headsClean, inspect, and stage tooling components for upcoming production runsAssist with knife handling, roll handling, and component transport using cranes and cartsTag, store, and organize tooling after removal from productionPerform basic measurements (OD, ID, knife thickness, spacers) under guidanceFollow work instructions, setup sheets, and supervisor or senior technician directionMaintain housekeeping and tool organization in tooling areasReport damaged tooling and abnormal conditions to senior technicians or leadParticipate in structured on-the-job trainingLearn basic mill stand and slitter head build proceduresProgress toward independent component assembly capabilityOther duties as assigned.Qualifications / CompetenciesEducation: High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.Job Knowledge: 6 months – 1 year of experience within the OCTG manufacturing industry preferredSafe use of hand tools, presses, and cranes (with training)Basic blueprint and setup sheet readingAbility to identify damaged vs acceptable tooling with guidanceBasic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.Perform basic Microsoft Office skills, and ability to work within company designated maintenance systemPersonal Competencies: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work within Office 365 & Company designated maintenance systemMust be available and able to work rotating shifts between nights and days, including weekends, and holidays as needed.SafetyFollows all plant and tooling safety standards, procedures, & PPE requirementsImmediately report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditionsFollow tooling handling and storage standards to prevent damagePhysical Requirements & Working ConditionsWorking conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site.The ability to lift 25/50 pounds regularly.The ability to respond quickly to sounds.The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds.The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.Ability to identify and distinguish colors.Direct Reports / AuthoritiesTooling Lead & SupervisorWork closely with Production and Maintenance department on scheduling, projects, and planned outages.Has the authority to stop production at any time that is deemed necessary for reasons of safety, quality, or priority.Employee AcknowledgmentMy signature below acknowledges that I have received, read and understand this job description, and that I am expected to consistently demonstrate the essential job duties and core competencies of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
