The CNC Machinist supports production by operating complex five-axis Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment, preparing tooling and materials, managing efficient machine setups, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment. The role works closely with programmers and management to prioritize work, minimize setup times, and ensure high-quality, conforming components that meet customer requirements and support product safety.

Schedule

• This shift follows a 2nd shift schedule: Monday - Friday 5:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.

Responsibilities

Maintains and implements AS9100 procedures and supports continuous improvement initiatives. Maintains a clean and organized work environment. Performs general maintenance and cleaning of CNC machines. Cleans and properly stores machine fixtures. Works with management to prioritize the machine schedule. Collaborates with programmers to minimize setup and manufacturing time. Orders cutters and tooling required to support manufacturing. Operates CNC machines to manufacture components. Reports recommendations or concerns affecting quality or time management to management. Evaluates potential impacts of product failures on customer requirements. Performs additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Adequate years of CNC equipment operation experience as determined by Karman. Detail-oriented, organized, and able to communicate effectively with all levels of management. Experience with Siemens 840D and Fanuc 31i-B5 controls. Strong blueprint interpretation skills. Thorough understanding of machine setups, tooling, and cutters. Ability to communicate directly with internal customers. Training in applicable changes and customer requirements. Knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) reporting, record keeping, and process adherence.

Physical Requirements

Constant standing, walking, or sitting for at least eight hours. Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 50 pounds, minimum of 35 pounds. Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate keyboards and other equipment. Ability to see clearly at approximately 20 inches or less; corrective lenses may be used. Prolonged periods of repetitive movement. Constant holding, grasping, turning, or handling with the hands. Occasional reaching overhead, at shoulder level, and below shoulder level. The essential functions of this position must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
