Senior Accountant

Senior AccountantWe are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join the corporate accounting team. This role will be responsible for overseeing key day-to-day accounting operations, supporting the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, performing financial analysis, and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and effective internal controls.The ideal candidate will have strong general accounting knowledge, excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide leadership and guidance to accounting team members.Key Responsibilities:Oversee the daily operations of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions and provide direction to accounting staff.Provide training, guidance, and support to accounting team members while ensuring work is completed accurately and within established deadlines.Manage Accounts Receivable activities, including customer balances, aging reports, collections, payment application, and account reconciliations.Prepare and review bank reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.Calculate and verify sales commissions in accordance with established commission plans.Support month-end and year-end close processes.Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, risks, and opportunities.Conduct cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis, including reviewing costs, margins, and related financial activity.Prepare financial reports and provide analysis to leadership to support business decision-making.Assist with state and government compliance requirements, filings, reporting, and supporting documentation.Review accounting transactions and processes to ensure accuracy, appropriate classification, and compliance with internal controls.Support external audits and respond to requests from accountants, auditors, government agencies, and other third parties.Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, efficiency, and internal controls.Assist with accounting and finance-related projects as needed.Qualifications Required:3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience.Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.Hands-on experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations.Experience performing bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and assess financial impact.Strong Microsoft Excel skills.Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with accounting staff and leadership.Preferred:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Experience with COGS, cost, margin, or financial analysis.Previous experience supervising, leading, training, or mentoring accounting staff.Experience supporting audits, regulatory filings, or government compliance requirements.Core Competencies:General Accounting & Financial ReportingAccounts Payable & Accounts ReceivableReconciliations & Month-End CloseFinancial & COGS AnalysisTeam Leadership & Process ImprovementMicrosoft Excel & ReportingInternal Controls & ComplianceProblem Solving & Attention to Detail
