Crane Operator

Job Title: 40-ton Crane Operator

We are hiring a skilled 40-ton Crane Operator to support commercial roofing projects. The ideal candidate will have experience lifting and placing roofing materials such as insulation, membrane rolls, gravel, and equipment onto various types of commercial rooftops. This position requires strong situational awareness, attention to detail, and a commitment to jobsite safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate a 40-ton crane to lift and position roofing materials onto commercial buildings.
• Set up crane and maintain safe operation throughout the project according to load charts and site conditions.
• Coordinate closely with roofing crews and riggers to ensure proper placement of loads.
• Perform pre-operation inspections and maintain accurate equipment logs.
• Follow all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety procedures, especially regarding working around roof edges and overhead loads.
• Communicate clearly via hand signals or radio with ground crew.
• Assist with minor rigging duties as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and security of the crane and work area.

Qualifications:

• NCCCO crane certification for 40-ton capacity or higher.
• Proven experience operating cranes in roofing, construction, or similar trade environments.
• Familiarity with roofing materials and typical commercial roof layouts a plus.
• Valid Class A CDL
• Ability to read and interpret load charts and lift plans.
• Strong focus on safety and team coordination.
• Willingness to work at heights and in various weather conditions.

Preferred Skills:

• Basic knowledge of commercial roofing systems.
• Mechanical aptitude for basic crane maintenance.

Work Environment:

• Active commercial construction and roofing sites.
• Outdoor work with exposure to varying weather conditions.
• Requires lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
• May require travel between job sites.
