Job Description

MCC of the Spirit is seeking a highly organized, dependable, and compassionate individual to serve as our Part-Time Administrative Assistant .

The Administrative Assistant provides administrative and organizational support for the day-to-day operations of the church, including communications, worship preparation, office administration, recordkeeping, and support for church leadership.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys organizing, communicating, solving problems, and working independently while supporting a welcoming and inclusive faith community.

Responsibilities

• Answer church phone calls and respond to general email inquiries
• Prepare worship slides, bulletins, and other worship materials
• Assist with church communications, newsletters, and social media
• Create and edit basic graphics, announcements, and communication materials using Canva
• Maintain church records, documents, and filing systems
• Assist with financial paperwork and basic recordkeeping
• Assist with scheduling and calendar coordination
• Maintain office and worship supplies
• Provide general administrative support to the Pastor and Board of Directors
• Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding church, financial, and personal information

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is:

• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Dependable and able to manage responsibilities with limited supervision
• Friendly, welcoming, and comfortable interacting with a diverse community
• Able to maintain confidentiality
• A strong verbal and written communicator
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office, email, Canva, and general computer applications
• Comfortable preparing presentations and working with basic social media platforms
• Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with church leadership

Previous administrative, nonprofit, or church office experience is helpful but not required .

The successful candidate should be comfortable working within and supportive of the mission and values of an LGBTQ+ affirming Christian congregation. Membership in MCC of the Spirit is not required.

Position Details

Job Type: Part-Time
Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week
Location: Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
Work Location: Primarily in person
Compensation: Based on experience and qualifications
