In this role, you will be a key member of our accident reconstruction team, providing expert consulting services to clients within the legal, insurance, and transportation industries. We are committed to ensuring that our clients have all the necessary details to accurately understand and resolve high-stakes vehicle accidents.This role offers a blend of fieldwork and in-office analysis. Fieldwork involves the use of advanced technologies, such as 3D laser scanning, drones, and camera equipment, to accurately document accident sites and vehicles, preserving key details before they can be impacted by environmental changes. In the office, you will analyze factors such as vehicle speed, damage, impact forces, driver reaction times, and available video footage. Additionally, we employ advanced software tools to create precise accident reconstructions, providing a visual representation of the events.Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, high mechanical aptitude, and a proactive commitment to applying their expertise in support of accurate, science-based accident reconstruction.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesField Investigation & Evidence Collection• Perform on-site inspections, vehicle assessments, and rapid-response investigations• Capture and document physical evidence using advanced tools, including 3D laser scanning, drones, and digital photography• Preserve scene and vehicle conditions through accurate documentation prior to environmental or external changesEngineering Analysis & Technical Support• Apply engineering principles to analyze vehicle motion, damage patterns, impact forces, and driver response• Utilize specialized software tools, including CAD, photogrammetry, collision simulation, laser scanning platforms, and vehicle event data recorder (EDR) analysis• Support planning and execution of engineering analyses under the guidance of senior engineersDocumentation & Reporting• Prepare clear, technically accurate written materials in support of engineering reports• Assist with the development of visual exhibits and reconstruction models• Present technical findings to internal team members and, as appropriate, external audiences with varying levels of technical expertiseProject & Team Support• Support multiple projects with competing deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy• Collaborate effectively with engineers, client engagement staff, and operations partners• Demonstrate professionalism and accountability in all client-facing and internal interactionsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)Knowledge• Engineering fundamentals relevant to motor vehicle crash analysis• Vehicle dynamics, automotive systems, and mechanical principles• Interest in or exposure to advanced driver-assist systems, autonomous vehicle technologies, and vehicle data networksSkills• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills• Technical writing and documentation skills• Ability to present technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences• Proficiency or demonstrated aptitude in 3D modeling and engineering software tools• Effective verbal and written communication skillsAbilities• Ability to work effectively in both field and office environments• Ability to manage regional travel requirements (approximately 50%)• Ability to work collaboratively within a team-based environment• Ability and desire to learn new tools, technologies, and analytical methodsQualifications• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline required• Master's degree candidates preferred• Academic or applied experience in technical research, analysis, or engineering projects preferredWork Environment & Travel Requirements• Combination of office-based analysis and field investigation work• Approximately 50% regional travel required• Fieldwork may involve outdoor environments and varied site conditionsCore Competencies• Technical Curiosity and Learning Agility• Attention to Detail and Accuracy• Collaboration and Teamwork• Professional Communication• Commitment to Quality and Scientific RigorBenefitsDELTA |v| invests heavily in our people, including, but not limited to:Offering a highly competitive salary with bonus eligibilityImmediate inclusion in our medical benefits planImmediate inclusion in our 401K program, including 3% company matchingProven commitment to ongoing professional development opportunitiesCompensationThe base salary for this position ranges from $70,000 to $75,000, depending on prior experience and expertise, which will be evaluated during the interview process.DELTA |v| Forensic Engineering is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
