Controller

Overview We are seeking a hands‑on, strategic Controller to oversee our accounting department and financial operations. This role is perfect for a leader who is not afraid to jump in to solve problems, understands the complexities of multi‑entity accounting, and is eager to streamline processes. You will manage a dedicated team, work closely with our outsourced accounting partners, and serve as a key business partner to the Executive team. What you’ll do for us: Lead the Accounting Department, including outsourced accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Partner with third‑party accounting and tax providers to streamline processes and meet critical reporting deadlines. Oversee corporate accounting, including monthly financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and fee billings. Manage year‑end financial reporting, tax preparation, and cash‑to‑accrual conversions. Review trial balances, journal entries, and reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy and compliance. Collaborate with the CFO on financial planning, forecasting, tax projections, and strategic accounting initiatives. Serve as the primary contact for banking relationships and corporate cash management. Prepare executive financial reports, analyses, and budgeting materials to support business decisions. Lead the financial coordination of acquisitions, dispositions, investor reporting, and ownership requests. Drive continuous process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and partner cross‑functionally to support organizational success. Qualifications Must Haves: Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent presentation and executive communication skills. Demonstrated experience leading accounting operations within a multi‑entity organization. Strong understanding of partnership accounting, tenancy‑in‑common (TIC) structures, and complex ownership entities. Experience managing both corporate and property accounting functions. Ability to identify process improvements and successfully implement operational efficiencies. Comfortable making independent decisions while exercising sound financial judgment. Education and Training: Master’s degree in accounting, finance, Corporate Finance or CPA preferred Great to haves: Experience with Yardi Voyager strongly preferred Experience with SAP Concur Compensation The compensation for this position is $175,000 - $ 225,000 / year.
