Make Pet Care Your Purpose The Veterinary Technician (VT) is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinarian leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of clients and patients. The VT relieves the Veterinarian from technical work and administrative detail to achieve greater efficiency in daily practice. Veterinary Technicians help facilitate and streamline communication from the operating room to the front office staff and the client. Essential Qualifications At least 18 years of age at the time of hire At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience Understanding of and ability to properly and safely restrain animals Knowledgeable in veterinary medical terminology and medication A Day in the Life of an Urgent Care Veterinary Technician Assist the Veterinarian in urgent medical and surgical cases Prepare lab samples Interpret cytology samples Interpret urinalysis Run in‑house lab work Prepare samples for send‑out analysis to Antech Induce, monitor, and recover anesthetic patients Prepare cost estimates Fill prescriptions Client education Potential for Urgent Care/GP Hybrid schedule Purr‑worthy People Care At CityVet, we put an added focus on the well-being of our staff members.
