Job Summary We are seeking an innovative and results‑oriented individual to join our Commercial Management team as the Specialist, US Renewables. Reporting to the Sr. Specialist, US Renewables, you will proactively identify commercial risks and opportunities for our US renewables portfolio, develop and implement risk‑management strategies, and optimize value for existing assets. Responsibilities Coordinate internal subject‑matter expert teams to optimize commercial value for assigned assets and the generation fleet. Steer interactions with SMEs—operations, legal, credit, regulatory, finance, environmental, external suppliers, off‑takers and regulators—to generate revenue, reduce costs, and mitigate risks. Negotiate commercial contracts with external parties for supply of key facility inputs and sale of products and services, including PPAs, REC contracts and long‑term service agreements. Manage relationships with external stakeholders and partners, consulting with internal teams as needed. Identify and analyze opportunities related to current or future commercial management of assets, monitoring external trends, threats and opportunities, and leading strategic actions. Provide commercial support to facility managers on operating and capital investment issues, including cost/benefit analysis. Recommend and lead efforts to resolve and manage disputes with counterparties, serving as the primary contact. Lead and report on opportunities, challenges and issues at regular stakeholder meetings. Ensure compliance with all related commercial agreements, leveraging knowledge of relevant commercial environments and contracts. Lead ad‑hoc special projects or initiatives for specific assets or across the portfolio, as required. Manage commercial reporting and functions with asset partners. Participate in evaluating new assets or opportunities identified by Business Development for acquisition or greenfield/brownfield development. Qualifications Education: Degree in Engineering, Finance, Commerce or Economics. A Master’s degree or ongoing Master’s is an asset. Professional designations are considered an asset. Experience: 3+ years in an operational, commercial, engineering, business development, or financial and analytical role, preferably within the deregulated electricity industry or related sector. Knowledge/Experience: Power markets, power generation, power marketing, regulatory frameworks, commodities, transmission/transport agreements, and power purchase agreements. Experience with renewable projects is a strong asset. Technical & Other Skills: Understanding and experience in power markets, operating electricity generating plants across regions, legal agreement or contract management, commercial negotiation, financial analysis (financial statements, budgets, forecasting), project management, and stakeholder engagement. Ability to travel across North America and strong verbal/written communication skills. Personal Traits: Initiative, ability to handle ambiguity, attention to detail, dynamic workload management, and proactive recommendation of solutions to senior management. Location & Working Conditions Hybrid work–remote model with periodic travel across North America. Preferred locations: Phoenix, AZ and Edmonton, AB.
