Job Title Facility Operations Manager – Fall 2026 Department Campus Activities and Corey Union Job Description/Duties Administrative: The Facility Operations Manager assumes the Union Administrator’s administrative duties while on duty, overseeing building operations during assigned hours. General Responsibilities Opening and closing the building Securing the building while on duty Acting as a program facilitator Supervising student employees as assigned Completing assigned administrative tasks Specific Responsibilities Perform hourly checks of the building, ensuring proper lighting, unlocked authorized exit doors, accompanied by hourly round reports. Keep all offices and service rooms locked at all times. Check IDs when required. Know usual locations of furnishings and equipment; report missing or damaged items to Direct Supervisor and, if necessary, to University Police. Address any abuse of equipment or furniture and contact University Police if necessary. Authorized to lock or evacuate any building area if the situation merits. When alcohol is served, ensure SUNY Alcohol Policies are followed. Be alert for safety hazards: check first aid kits periodically and be familiar with fire/evacuation procedures. Complete the Operations Report at the end of each shift, noting any problems, number of people in the building, and general information. Secure the building before leaving and investigate any unauthorized persons remaining after closing. At night’s close, call University Police, indicating you are leaving, and provide names and IDs of all authorized people remaining. Update daily event schedules posted in displays throughout the building. Update and maintain room schedules using EMS as assigned. Update and maintain Corey Union’s calendar using Outlook Calendar as assigned. Service and Duties Upon arrival, check all set‑ups/room arrangements to ensure everything requested is ready or available. Open facilities for an organization’s use before the requested time. Confirm with the event/meeting organizer that everything is in order and that nothing is needed; remind the organization of its responsibilities (e.g., clean up). When audio/visual equipment is required, ensure it is available and that proper forms are filled out; at program close, ensure all equipment is returned and note any missing items. During periodic building rounds, inspect bulletin boards, remove any unauthorized or outdated signs, posters, or materials, and delete anything taped to walls, wood, or glass. Act as an unofficial host to any University guests and assist visiting artists until an organization representative can be found. After an event, confirm maintenance personnel have provided the organization’s lead person with necessary materials for clean‑up. During building rounds, maintain furniture arrangements, pick up unsightly paper or other debris, and remain aware of hazards. Always be courteous to people using the Union and assist them. Attend all Facility Operations Manager training sessions and meetings as required. Days/Hours Needed Evenings and weekends; other hours as assigned based on need. Monday through Friday: 3 p.m. – 11 p.m. (occasionally as late as 2 a.m.) Saturday and Sunday: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday: 3 p.m. – 11 p.m. (occasionally as late as 2 a.m.) Specific Event Support Specialist shifts are assigned as needed. All hours are subject to change as needed. Campus Location Fay Corey College Union / Van Hosen Hall Brown Auditorium, as assigned Additional campus locations, as assigned Required Qualifications Must be a current SUNY Cortland student and have a 2.6 overall GPA while working in the position. Highly motivated self‑starter able to work with diverse groups. Preferred Qualifications Knowledgeable in audio/visual technology (sound systems, computers, projectors, etc.). Physical Demands Some lifting and carrying of various audio‑visual and other equipment. Salary $16.50 per hour #J-18808-Ljbffr
